Top Honors for Foster Information Systems and Operations Management Faculty
Mingwen Yang, Hyeunjung (Elina) Hwang, and Yong Tan receive INFORMS Information Systems Society awards
The Foster School of Business is celebrating three members of the Information Systems and Operations Management department faculty who have been recognized with prestigious awards from the INFORMS Information Systems Society: Mingwen Yang, Hyeunjung (Elina) Hwang, and Yong Tan.
Mingwen Yang, Assistant Professor of Information Systems, received the INFORMS Information Systems Society Gordon B. Davis Young Scholar Award. The award recognizes young scholars who are on a path toward making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline.
Hyeunjung (Elina) Hwang, Assistant Professor of Information Systems, was honored with the INFORMS Information Systems Society Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award, which celebrates early-career individuals who are making significant strides in the information systems discipline. She is a previous recipient of the Gordon B. Davis Award.
Yong Tan, Professor of Information Systems and Chair the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, received the INFORMS Information Systems Society President’s Service Award. This award recognizes Tan’s exceptional service and dedication to the information systems community. His leadership and contributions have been instrumental in shaping the department’s success.

The INFORMS awards recognize not just individual achievements but also the department’s commitment to fostering student success⸺ensuring graduates are well prepared to make significant contributions to the field.

The Foster School of Business Department of Information Systems and Operations Management offers courses in three distinct yet integrated curriculum areas: information systems, operations management, and quantitative methods. This interdisciplinary approach prepares graduates for success in a rapidly expanding and vital area of business. Faculty teach in Foster undergraduate programs, as well as the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), Master Supply Chain Management (MSCM), PhD in Information Systems, and PhD in Operations Management.
