Foster School of Business Jumps to #3 in TAMUGA Rankings

TAMUGA Rankings are an annual index of research published in the eight most influential peer-reviewed journals in the U.S.

Thanks to consistently strong scholarly output, the Foster School of Business Management & Organization Department secured the #3 spot for total publications in the 2023 TAMUGA Rankings. In addition, the Department ranked #5 in published research per faculty member in the 2023 TAMUGA rankings. This achievement underscores the department’s commitment to producing high-quality research that contributes significantly to the management studies field.

“This is an amazing accomplishment that reflects the hard work of our faculty members and the unique contributions that they are making to the study of management,” said Scott J. Reynolds, Professor of Business Ethics and Chair of the Department of Management and Organization. “Individually, our faculty members are thought leaders in their areas, so we regularly see one or more faculty members honored for their great work. But this ranking is unique because it captures the impact of our research as a group. It’s a tremendous honor, and as a group, we’re very proud of this achievement.”

The TAMUGA Rankings are an annual index of research output compiled by Texas A&M University and the University of Georgia. The TAMUGA rankings only tally research published in the eight most influential peer-reviewed journals in the U.S. These journals include Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

It ranked #1 in 2017, #13 in 2018, #15 in 2019, #2 in 2020, #9 in 2021, and #20 in 2022. Beyond their sustained research record overall, faculty have also distinguished themselves by the extraordinary breadth of topics they examine.

Department faculty collectively produced 17 papers published in the discipline’s elite eight peer-reviewed journals during 2023. Only the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) and the University of North Carolina (Kenan-Flagler) produced more publications over the same period.

Foster faculty are extraordinarily productive – individually – relative to peers as well. In 2023, despite having a smaller faculty than some of its peers, Foster ranked #3 in total publications and secured the #5 spot in publications per tenure-track faculty.
